In Highschool when I used the library it was looking up sources for papers, so when I'd look up a book I would use a website to find a book pertaining to my topic. Which is very similar to the university's book catalogue when searching for a book. The difference between my HighSchool and the University is how broad the university's selection is I came from a small hometown so our library wasn't as useful as the Universities'. Also my high school used decimals to look up books, not a call number with letters. Which made my search even more irritating to find my book. My library ethnography helped my search ten times more, I never knew how to look up a university book before then. I havent been able to reach my sources yet that im not in the States but when I return I will be able to find my books with ease!
I found the GIL-Find is easier to use than just the regular GIL. The difference is GIL-Find makes keywords and phrase searching easier and broadens out the source. Also, you can login and mark favorites, add comments, and sign up to be emailed when updates are available. What blows the classic GIL out of the water is when your grabbing a call number the call number will be texted to your phone and its location. I must say the GIL-Find is pretty legit!
Are you kidding? It will text your call number to your phone? I hadn't even noticed that feature! But I agree, it is MUCH better than the old version!
