Filter Bubbles

Filter bubbles aren't necessarily a bad thing but they keep you from seeing the sites on the website you are most interested in. Google is using robots to pick up on your searches in your database to see exactly what you like on the internet. Well the bad thing is, is that the robots are using nonsense junk to add to your filters as well, which means hiding the real news in the world from you. Problems that occur in the filter bubbles are when searching for an important issue, google might lead you in the opposite direction that your going in. In class we were taught to use Galileo research database instead of google. I know now before the video to use Galileo for scholarly sources and never use google. I read the top way to pop your own filter bubble and yes I did take action. I was always taught by my mother to keep my privacy on the internet low so I wouldn't receive any viruses on my computer. I already knew to clear out my history, cookies and data..etc to keep my computer up to date and running at a good pace. I also downloaded the "keep my opt-outs" trying to understand how to help my filter bubble but I don't really understand how to do so. I am going to look over once again and try to get rid of my filter bubble.
